Introduction to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)

Learn more about the RSS warehouse process used at CDPHE.

Receipt, Stage and Store (RSS) Warehouse

The place where the SNS material arrives and is stored is called the Receipt, Store and Stage (RSS) Warehouse.

The RSS Warehouse will be located at one of several pre-identified facilities.  The selection of RSS warehouse will be determined by the nature of the emergency.

The RSS location will facilitate efficient storage, breakdown and shipment of the SNS assets to the areas of the state where they are needed. The ideal site for the RSS should be at least 15,000 square feet in size, have a shipping/receiving dock, and have at least one 4,000- to 6,000-pound forklift. Additionally, extra pallets may be required to move the SNS assets to treatment, dispensing, and other locations.

In the event that the RSS warehouse needs to be activated, CDPHE and partner agencies will provide the workforce for the state SNS and RSS Warehouse functions.
